Very interesting! A comparison between Alphas BF TW and SS Air TW would be of interest as well. To me, there are also similarities between these models.

      Thank you for your comment!
I don’t own the SS Air, so it’s a bit difficult for me to provide a definitive answer, but based on the specifications:
      - The body material of the SS Air is Duralumin, whereas the Alphas BF uses aluminum.
      - The spool diameter is 28mm for the SS Air and 30mm for the Alphas BF.
These appear to be two main differences.
The "SS" series has historically been positioned as an experimental lineup within Daiwa. Insights gained from these models have traditionally been applied to the "Alphas" series.
I believe the relationship between the SS Air and the Alphas BF follows a similar pattern.
In particular, the SS Air faced several issues when it was first released. Perhaps Daiwa resolved those issues and rebranded the improved version as "Alphas," resulting in the current Alphas BF. What do you think?

      SS Air は純粋にスピニングの領域をカバーすることを目的にしていて、アルファスBFはバスフィッシングのベイトフィネスをより快適に行えるように開発され機種だと思います。

@@keiryubait Very interesting, once again. I didn‘t know that the ss lineup is historically a kind of a „prototype“ lineup for the alphas series. I thought it is more a kind of a steez „budget“ version. Thanks for these insights. In any case, I really appreciate the new spool dimensions of the alphas bf. The stock spool from Gekabijin with its narrowing inner frame caused some line management problems (line crossed the inner frame and didn‘t lay even) which really annoyed me and I really want to try out the ss magforce brakes. Have a nice weekend and greetings to Japan…

Indeed, the spool of the Gekabijin Air does feel somewhat forcibly narrowed.
In that regard, the Alphas BF has a more balanced spool design, making it very user-friendly.
Based on my testing, it can cast lightweight lures even better than the Gekabijin Air. If you get one, be sure to give it a try!
